Devgad Fort

Built in 1958, this was a gateway to Konkan in the old days. This was also a major fishing center. The entire area is surrounded by extensive plantations of the world-famous “Devgad Hapus (Alphanso) mango and coconut. Nearby is the little Devgad beach. Since it is situated between two mountains, it is absolutely pristine with picturesque surroundings.


Devgad Bazaar

A weekly bazaar at Devgad is a galore of all essential things in life. Day long Friday bazaar offers everything from clothing to food to toys to fresh fish and crabs to almost everything under the sun.


Lighthouse

Spread over a sprawling 120 acres, this fort was built in 1705 by Kanhoji Angre, a patriotic and valiant admiral of the Maratha reign. Even today, almost entire fort is in a fairly original condition. Various structures like Ganesh temple, light-house, ancient scriptures and cannons remind us of the glorious times of the bygone era. Watching sunset from here is a feast for the eyes and whale of an opportunities for the shutter-bugs.


Vijaydurg Fort

This is one fort which was a bastion in the naval power of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Built about 800 years ago, this fort is spread over 17 acres of land. The speciality of this fort is a well of sweet water surrounded by sea on almost all sides. Many structures like the Hanuman temple, Bhavani mata temple, horse stable are standing in their original glory, making the fort worth visiting. Seasonal boating facility in the sea is also available. This, again, is a 'moving' experience.


Waghotan (village)

This place is famous for the mango plantations, a port, a creek and quarries producing the well-known red 'jambha' stone. One can also have a look at a huge bungalow built by the British to house the Burma( Myanmar) King Theeba.


Mithbav Beach

The beach here is lined by trees almost touching the skies. The speciality of this beach is the white soft sand all throughout. Mithbav village nearby is entirely existent on this sand. A bare-footed leisure walk on this beach, watching sea turtles, seagull and at times dolphins will make you forget the world for sure.


Saitavade Waterfall

This perennial waterfall is located about 28 km from PurpleMango Retreat. You must visit here during the monsoons, the scene will simply leave you spell-bound.


Kunakeshwar Temple

Set on the backdrop of a five kilometer long seashore, this place is recognized as “Kashi” of Konkan. The place is well-known for the beautiful temple of Lord Shiva, built by the Yadavas in the 11th century. This was also the place of residence of the Pandavas during their exile. The place is surrounded by serene greenery every moment is captivating.


Girye Rameshwar Temple

This temple is a monolithic structure built underground, with steps carved in the 50 meter rock. Here, the idol of Lord Shiva, made of around 50 kg of pure Silver is simply stunning. The walls of the temple are full of intricate drawings and scenes from “Mahabharata” that leaves you mesmerized. Other attractions around are the mango research center and the last resting place of yet another brave and patriotic Admiral of the Maratha supremacy Sambhaji Angre.

The speciality of this temple is that it is almost 200 ft under ground. It is not visible from the main road. The only sign that confirms its existance is an old welcome arch. A 20 ft wide road has been carved inside the hill that leads to a massive plateau on which this historical temple welcomes you.
